MEET THE DESIGNER
Emily Hill
First, thank you for joining me on the journey that is Penyu!
Penyu is my passion project that grew from my love of batik textiles, Indonesia and my childhood dream of becoming a fashion designer.
Since launching in January 2023, I have been on a self-taught journey of discovery about how to design clothes for 'real bodies' that fit well, are made to last and bring JOY to your day!
My hope is that with each of my designs, I can leave the fashion industry in a better place. This ethos guides each decision I make as a designer, from size inclusivity to sustainability and ethical production.
Every design features hand stamped Indonesian batik (in 100% cotton), is limited edition and made in a small Balinese owned and run factory.
I like to think I put a little piece of my heart into each design. So I am ever grateful you have allowed me to share my love for Penyu with you!

CURRENTLY IN MY WARDROBE:
Henni Mini Dress
A fun and flirty mini dress that is perfect for twirling, need I say more?
This is the dress that is guaranteed to put a smile on my face. Whether it be a picnic with friends or going grocery shopping, I know I will have a great time when I wear this dress.
This is one of my early designs and has sold out more than once. The puff sleeves add an unforgettable touch and I love the matching belt.
Dinda Batik Shirt
If I could only pick one top to have in my wardrobe for the rest of eternity, the Dinda Batik Shirt in Munduk would be it.
This shirt can be worn in every season and in so many settings, from casual to formal occasions (I even wore it to the opening of the National Portrait Prize this year).
The bright red batik adds a pop of colour and the ruffled collar and cuff detailing finishes this look.
Susi Batik Blouse
The Susi Batik Blouse in Melanting is my go-to choice when I need something relaxed and easy to wear.
I love the oversized fit of this blouse. It pairs effortlessly with both relaxed linens and formal tailoring (think, breezy linen skirts and wide leg trousers).
The voluminous sleeves are dramatic, and the ruffled collar and detailed button loops create an elegant silhouette.
